Presidential Aide Inspects Abandoned Federal Projects in Katsina State

On Monday, 5th August 2024, a delegation from the federal government, led by the Personal Assistant to the President on Constituency Appairs, Hajiya Khadija Omotayo Kareem, visited Katsina to inspect several federal projects that had been initiated but left Abandoned in the state.
Hajiya Khadija Omotayo Kareem began her visit by inspecting the 132/33KV electricity substation in Kankia. The contractors reported that the project is 95% complete and expected to be finished soon. This project was initiated during the tenure of the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua but remains incomplete.
The delegation then visited the long-abandoned wind power project in Lambar Rimi, which has been neglected for over 15 years. Plans are underway to convert this into a solar power project generating 10 megawatts of electricity, which was started during President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.
On Tuesday, a meeting was held to discuss the unfinished federal projects in the state at the Katsina Government House. Hajiya Khadija expressed her gratitude to the Katsina state government for their warm reception and thanked the President for the opportunity to oversee these projects.
The Acting Governor of Katsina State, Hon. Faruk Lawal Jobe, praised the people of Katsina for their maturity and restraint in not protesting. He urged Hajiya Khadija to ensure that all community concerns are promptly addressed by the federal government.
Among the attendees was the Katsina State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Dr. Faisal Kaita, who highlighted several critical projects needing completion, including the dual-carriage road from Kano to Katsina and the railway line from Nigeria to Niger.
Discussions also covered the construction of dams, rural roads, security, agriculture and livestock development, women and youth empowerment, and the resumption of school feeding and N-Power programmes.
Hajiya Khadija also visited the Government College Katsina (GCK) to review some unfinished projects. She then inspected the Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina, where more incomplete works were noted. Finally, she met with the Acting Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, to express her thanks and reaffirm her commitment to reporting all incomplete projects to the President.
In conclusion, Hajiya Khadija paid visits to the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji (Dr) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji (Dr) Faruk Umar Faruk, and former President Muhammadu Buhari.
